That’s something I was thinking about but forgot to put in b/c I wanted to write quickly (I have a bad tendancy to write drafts then sit on them for 8 months). Between U of I, Purdue, Northwestern, and Chicago (not to mention IIT and UIC) there are good tech programs, but they’re either too far away or too secondary to their university to matter much. Hence the focus on businesses and business training.

A chicago style y-combinator would look like bribing your way into some seed funding. Also, only family members of powerful people would be elected^H^H^H^H^H^H selected to more funding.

This would be nice. However, it seems really helpful to have a good tech university nearby (e.g. see http://www.paulgraham.com/siliconvalley.html ). How about you split the difference between Indianapolis and Chicago and go with West Lafayette and Purdue?
